On March 25th, we visited the SCK-CEN, the nuclear research center in Mol, With the 3rd year biology students. This visit was the opportunity to be introduced with space biology and the ambitious projects related to space exploration and long term journeys. Many aspects of space biology have been discussed, such as physiological breakdowns, recycling loops, microbiology, etc. Also, we could go as deep as 200m underground to walk into the tunnel lab “Hades” where experiments are being carried out to stock long term highly radioactive waste. The students have found a short description of this day: “Une découverte inspirante au centre de la Terre et de l’Espace”. Thank you to Professor Sarah Baatout for this great visit. https://www.sckcen.be/
