December is usually the month of the PhD theses defenses. Frédéric Silvestre was in the jury board of 3 excellent works in Namur, Brussels and Nantes.
First, Mark Holmes has presented his work about stability modelling in a competitive community subject to environmental changes. He has been working in our research unit at UNamur under the supervision of Frederik De Laender.
Thomas Sol Dourdin has been graduated at Nantes University after the presentation of his thesis about the intergenerational effects of a mixture of pesticides on the oyster. He has been working in IFREMER Nantes under the supervision of Guillaume Riviere and Rossana Sussarellu.
Lastly, Thibaut Renard showed all his passion for social insects and epigenetics in a remarkable dissertation about DNA methylation profiles in ants and bees. His work has been carried out at ULB under the supervision of Serge Aron.
It was great to read all these works and to meet young and talented researchers as well as colleagues working in the field.
