A new article from Elodie Falisse’s thesis has been published in the journal Environmental Pollution. This study is the first in collaboration with Dr Aniruddha Chatterjee from the University of Ortago, New Zealand, which aimed at identifying the epigenetic effects of an exposure to a common pollutant (the antibacterial agent Triclosan) during the development of…

New article published in Ecology and Evolution
A first article on our work on epigenetics in the mangrove rivulus has been published in the journal “Ecology and Evolution”. This article published by Alexandre Fellous depicts the DNA methylation profile of this fish, in adults and during embryogenesis. It also characterizes the main enzymes involved in this process. Altogether, our findings open the…
New article published in Aquatic Toxicology
Our PhD student Elodie Falisse has published a research article in Aquatic Toxicology about the effects of the bactericide product Triclosan on zebrafish larvae. She combined multidisciplinary approaches such as physiology, biochemistry and proteomics. Main results suggest that triclosan might disturb the development of zebrafish larvae and induce compensatory mechanisms. The article can be found…
Rivulus genome
The genome of our model species, the mangrove rivulus, has been published in Genome Biology and Evolution by a consortium of scientists including our colleague Ryan Earley (Univeristy of Alabama). This publication will improve our researches in proteomics and epigenetics in this amazing fish. http://gbe.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2016/06/18/gbe.evw145.abstract
New publication in Journal of Proteomics
A new scientific article has been accepted for publication in Journal of Proteomics. It shows up the last results obtained during the thesis of Kathleen Roland and introduces the concept of integrated biomarker index using proteomics for the monitoring of endangered species, such as the European eel. The African Turquoise Killifish Genome
The African Turquoise Killifish Genome has been published in Cell. The authors reveals genes involved in aging and lifespan. These genes are clustered on the sex chromosome, suggesting that short lifespan might have co-evolved with sex determination.
Anne-Sophie won the award for the best poster at the 21th Benelux Congress of Zoology
We’re proud to congratulate our FNRS PhD student Anne-Sophie Voisin and our Master student Melodie Locrel for having won the award for the best PhD poster at the 21th Benelux Congress of Zoology. This conference has been held in Liège, Belgium, the 12-13 December 2014 and was a contest among more than 100 young scientists….
